Perfection

Perfection – The One Fear That Haunts Us All

Perfection

As I dive deeper and deeper into my recovery from Depression and attempted suicide…

…and as I grow deeper in my faith, I am learning so much about how people coupe, but more interestingly, learning about the fear people live with.

The fear of being judged.
The fear of letting people down.
The fear of not being good enough.
The fear of people seeing them as they truly are…

Broken.

We are all broken. We are all sinners. There is not a single soul on this planet today that is perfect.

But for some reason we try to exude that very thing that we can not achieve.

We try to hide our shortcomings and pray nobody notices.

And through this I have learned two very valuable lessons…

1. There is a hole inside of us all that we long to fill. Some people fill it with drugs, others with sex, some do it with material possession, and the list goes on and on.

However, that hole can only be filled by one thing…

An intimate relationship with God.

2. Most people never get to fill that hole with the one thing that can fulfill them because the very ones that are trying to show them the truth, commonly hide behind a facade that is affectionately referred to as hypocrisy, but what I have come to know as fear.

The fear of being judged.
The fear of letting people down.
The fear of not being good enough.
The fear of people seeing them as they truly are…

Broken

This is what Standing Stronger is all about.

Helping people see there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and the light does not require perfection. But rather takes you as you are.

I almost took my own life, because I feared people would find out the truth about me. People would know my secrets.

Quit living in fear, and know God loves you as you are.

A great man that I respect and look up to told me “people will always let you down if you look hard enough for it” and that rings true not because they are malicious, but because they are not perfect.

As believers, we need to quit acting as if we are perfect and realize it is ok that we have and will make mistakes.

As someone who wants to believe, know you do not need to wait to be “good enough” and that God loves you as you are.

Shoot… If he loves me, he can love anyone 🙂

I invite you to Stand Stronger in your imperfection and make this day your first day to a more fulfilled life.
